Women's Lacrosse Takes Fourth Straight Win as They Defeat Chestnut Hill
PHILADELPHIA – Thomas Jefferson University women's lacrosse team (4-3, 4-0) held the Griffins to five total goals while scoring 13 in the first half as the Rams defeated Chestnut Hill College (1-6, 0-3) 20-5 for their fourth straight Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory on the season in Tuesday afternoon action.
WHAT HAPPENED
Jefferson went ahead with two early goals in the first minute by Carina Raymond. The Griffins responded with a goal by Lauren Sullivan, but Lynn Hardy, Ellie Lefton, and Gabby Modzelewski all made their shots in the back of the net to put the Rams' lead to 5-1 after the first quarter. Nicole George put a goal up for Chestnut Hill, getting the Griffins to at least three scores behind Jefferson. The Rams then went on a 5-0 stretch, seeing two goals by Lefton, with Erin Avanzato, Iris Gluck, and Modzelewski had one apiece as Jefferson got into double digit points.
Molly Killion added another goal for the Griffins, making it a 10-3 game with 7:43 left in the half. The Rams went to make their lead a 10-goal differential as Gluck, Faith Hardy, and Chloe Naylor each had a score, getting Jefferson a running clock with a 13-3 lead heading into the half.
The Rams added four more goals in the third quarter, as Naylor began the quarter with her shot getting into the net. The Griffins put up another goal only for Raymond to respond with two of her own and Emma Baker making her first of the day.
Killion had one more goal for Chestnut Hill to end their scoring attack. Reagan Rogers had two straight goals for herself in the fourth quarter. Rogers ended the game with her shot making the net as time expired, reaching the Rams 20-5 victory.
