Softball Gets First Win For Baginski; Splits Against Bloomsburg
PHILADELPHIA – The Thomas Jefferson University softball team (1-3) fell in the first game to the Huskies, but a three run fourth inning helped the Rams head coach Bob Baginski earn his first collegiate win as they won the second game against Bloomsburg University (5-2) in non-conference action.
WHAT HAPPENED
GAME ONE: L, 2-4
The Huskes started off with a score in the first inning off a single to center field. Both teams kept it scoreless throughout the next four innings, with Callie Sowers of Bloomsburg and Gianna DeLorenzo of the Rams only had any runner get to second base.
Bloomsburg added to their lead, scoring three runs in the top of the sixth inning. Reaching on a fielding error, the Huskies got a double to center field for their first score. A double to left line put Bloomburg up 3-1, with a single to center field bringing one more Huskie to homeplate to make it 4-0.
Jefferson made two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Bridget Shield getting to first off a fielder's choice allowed Remy Smith to home for the Rams first run of the day. Sabrina Pastino singled to center field as she brought Maritza Lopez-Gonzalez to homeplate, cutting Bloomsburg lead to 4-2.
The Rams had one last chance in the bottom of the seventh, but a groundout by the catcher and a dobuleplay by second basemen finished the first game for Jefferson, suffering a 4-2 loss to Bloomsburg.

GAME TWO: W 3-2
The Huskies got out to another lead in the first inning, scoring off a single to center field and getting ahead 1-0. Jefferson responded in the fourth inning, scoring three runs for Jefferson. Pastino connected on a triple to center field as she got Remy Smith to home plate. After a strike made it two outs, Bridget Shields hit a single to center field that helped Pastino earn a run for Jefferson, taking the lead 2-1. Annabelle Zito got another run for the Rams, getting Shields to round three bases from a double to left field as the Rams secured a 3-1 lead.
Bloomsburg put up a run in the top of the sixth from a single to left field had it at 3-2 in favor of Jefferson. The Huskies had the tying run on third base and the leading run at plate with two outs, the Rams earned a ground out to shortstop to conclude game two with Jefferson's 3-2 win.
