Women's Lacrosse Takes Down Post 19-13
WATERBURY, Conn. – The Thomas Jefferson University women's lacrosse team (5-6, 5-2) competed in their fourth straight road game against the Eagles, where the Rams added seven goals in the second and third quarter to secure a 19-13 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory over Post University (4-7, 2-5) in Wednesday afternoon action.
WHAT HAPPENED
Carina Raymond and
Audrey Strock both had a goal within the first five minutes of the game, going up early 2-0. The Eagles tied it up in two minutes from Klara Domachowska and Amber McGee goals. Raymond put her shot in with a man-up, but McGee responded three minutes later to keep the match tied.
Erin Avanzato and
Gabby Modzelewski scored in the final 1:15 minutes of the first quarter, with McGee adding a third goal on the day for herself as Jefferson went into the second quarter up 5-4.
The Rams put up three straight goals in the third, with Raymond,
Ellie Lefton, and Modzelewski each making their shots to get the matchup at 8-4. McGee added another goal alongside Hailey McHenry to trail by two points, but
Audrey Strock,
Iris Gluck, and
Lynn Hardy all put a goal up before the break, giving Jefferson a 11-6 lead at halftime.
The Rams put up another seven-goal quarter, this time in the third. Raymond and Strock put a goal in with less than two minutes in the second half. Anna D'Angelo got a score in for Post, but Jefferson went in to put five in a row for the rest of the period. Lefton got two goals while E. Avanzato, Gluck, and
Emma Baker put one apiece to go into the break up 19-8.
Post went to add five goals in the last quarter, holding Jefferson scoreless during that period. The Rams were able to hold on, leaving LaMoy Field with a 19-13 victory.
