Women's Lacrosse Ends CACC Play with Win Over Holy Family; Secures Second Seed in CACC Tournament
PHILADELPHIA – Thomas Jefferson University women's lacrosse team (7-6, 7-2) had their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) finale on Tuesday when they faced Holy Family University (5-11, 4-4) at Ravenhill Field. The Rams got out to a strong start and held on the rest of the way as Jefferson defeated the Tigers 18-5 and secured a bye in the CACC Championship tournament next week.
WHAT HAPPENED
Jefferson got out to a strong start with eight straight goals in the first quarter. Carina Raymond scored two of her team-leading five goals in the first 15 minutes, with Emma Baker matching her as well in the opening quarter. Gabby Modzelewski, Iris Gluck, Lynn Hardy, and Ellie Lefton all had one goal in the first quarter to roll into a commanding Rams' lead.
Jefferson put up three more goals to open the second, with Modzelewski adding two and Raymond having another goal in play to get the clock running. Holy Family started to get their offense going as they put up a goal in with 6:27 to go before the break. After another Baker goal, the Tigers scored three straight goals to get the clock running normally once more and trail 12-4. Raymond made sure to add one more goal before the break, giving Jefferson a nine-point lead at the half.
The third quarter was more quiet, with defenses holding strong and attempts more difficult. Hardy and Raymond were able to find the back of the net to have the match at 15-4. The Rams added three more goals from Modzelewski, Hardy, and Kayla Juralewicz as Jefferson earned the 18-5 win
