Women's Volleyball Takes Down Southern Connecticut State in Three Sets


WILMINGTON, DE. - Thomas Jefferson University women's volleyball (3-4) began their day at the Wilmington Wildcat Invitational with a matchup against Southern Connecticut State University (0-5) on Friday afternoon. The Rams won the match against the Owls in straight sets. 

WHAT HAPPENED 

  • The Rams trailed early 4-1, but bounced back as they took six straight points for the lead 

  • Southern Connecticut State kept pressing against Jefferson, trailing as much as two points 

  • The Rams held their own, taking the first set 25-18 

  • The second set saw both squads trading the lead early and often 

  • Jefferson got out to a 13-7 lead before the Owls brought it to a tie game off an 8-2 run 

  • Southern Connecticut State eventually went ahead 21-20, but the Rams refused to stay down as they took five of the last six points for the 25-22 second set win 

  • The third set saw a back-and-forth outing, with the lead changing or a tie 10 times 

  • After trailing 13-12, the Rams got on an 8-3 run to secure their lead that they would ultimately hold onto as Jefferson won the third set 25-20 and the series against Southern Connecticut State
