Women's Volleyball Get Back in Win Column; Downs Georgian Court in Four Sets
PHILADELPHIA – Thomas Jefferson University women's soccer (6-9, 2-4) looked to get back on the right track as they hosted Georgian Court University (5-13, 2-5) in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action Wednesday night. The Rams were able to hold down the Lions and earn a 3-1 victory.
WHAT HAPPENED
- Both squads had the lead to begin the match with Georgian Court being up 4-0 while Jefferson took six straight points to get ahead 15-12. The Rams were up 23-19 and looked to conclude the contest, but the Lions went on a 5-1 run to even it out at 24-24. Jefferson didn't give them a chance, delivering two kills to earn the 26-24 first set win
- The second set went in similar fashion as the lead changed multiple times. Georgian Court went in urgent mode, taking a 9-3 run late in the set to secure the 25-21 win and evening out the series at one apiece
- Jefferson got back on track in the third, scoring the first four point that paved the way for an 11-4 lead. The Lions got as close as four point but were held off by the Rams consistent attack, ending with a 25-17 win for Jefferson and a 2-1 series advantage
- The Rams carried that momentum in the fourth as they started out going on a 12-4 run that just continued throughout the set. They had Georgian Court get as close as eight points with no threat in losing their lead. Jefferson ultimately ended the set with a 25-13 victory and earned a 3-1 conference win
- Emily McKenna had 19 kills while Alexa Pomeroy secured 12 on the night. Meredith Adams had 43 assists while being second on the team in digs with 15. Kate Hines led the squad in that department with 16. Jaysa Even put out six of the Rams 16 blocks, with Liz Tanis having five of her own as well
