Thomas Earns Both Cross-Country Coach of the Year Awards; Men's and Women's Earn Sportsmanship Award

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – After sweeping the conference championship titles over a week ago, Thomas Jefferson University men's and women's cross country add more awards to their 2025 season as head coach Dave Thomas was named the 2025 Athletic Solutions Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Coach of the Year for both squads, as announced by CACC Commissioner Dan Mara this afternoon. The teams joined their coach as the men's team earned the Rob Roman Memorial CACC Men's Cross-Country Team Sportsmanship Award while the women's team was the recipient of the Anne Jackson Memorial CACC Women's Cross-Country Team Sportsmanship Award. The 11 head  coaches in the conference voted on both Coach of the Year awards.

Thomas takes home his fifth CACC Coach of the Year Award for the men's team, earning that honor last in 2021 when the men's team also won the conference title. He helped lead the men to their fifth CACC title in dramatic fashion, winning by two-points over the two-time champion Wilmington University (Del.). Thomas coached the Rams to top-4 finishes in every race they have competed in this season, cultivating to four CACC All-Conference runners as well as the CACC Rookie of the Year, the first yearly award winner since 2014 and second winner of that award in program history (first being in 2011).

Thomas adds his 12th Women's Coach of the Year Award under his belt, his third in a row. Jefferson had all seven runners make CACC All-Conference for the second consecutive year while making history as all of them were in the top-7, a first in program and conference history. This led to the Rams winning their third straight CACC title, with it being the 10th time in 11 years and 15th conference championship overall. Thomas coached his third straight CACC Runner of the Year while having the CACC Rookie of the Year for the third time in four seasons. He has coached his sixth CACC Runner of the Year and 10th CACC Rookie of the Year.

The annual Men's and Women's Team Sportsmanship Awards are named for Roman and Jackson, respectively, to memorialize their courage, strength and sportsmanship. Roman, a former Post University men's cross-country standout, passed away suddenly and prematurely on October 5, 2012. Jackson, a former Nyack College women's cross-country standout, passed away suddenly and prematurely on November 17, 2010.

Both Ram squads will get ready to compete in the NCAA Division II East Regional Championship on Saturday, November 8 at Hopkinton, N.H. with the women's team going at 10 a.m. with the men's team following behind at 11:15 a.m.
