Men's Basketball Drop Second Straight Heart-breaker to Caldwell
CALDWELL, N.J. – After trailing by 23 in the first half, the Thomas Jefferson University men's basketball team (12-10, 6-6) put up 50 points in the second half and cut the lead to three points with 12 seconds to go. Two attempts from beyond the arc failed to go in as the Rams fell 79-76 to Caldwell University (15-7, 7-4) in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action.
WHAT HAPPENED
- The Cougars had control in the first half, scoring 49 points over the Rams 26. Caldwell shot 17-of-27 in the first half, 9-12 from beyond the arc, while Jefferson was 10-of-29 on the court.
- After the game was set at 14-13 in favor of the Cougars, Caldwell went on to score 15 straight points to go up 29-13. Caldwell kept it up as they went 20-13 the rest of the half to go up 49-23 at the break
- Jefferson bounced back, putting up 50 points. They started with 12 straight to open the second half
- The Rams kept getting close to Caldwell's lead, only being down by three points multiple times. They eventually trailed by one with 14 seconds to go
- After two Cougar free throws, the Rams attempted two three pointers that did not convert, falling to Caldwell 79-76
- Sean Fullerton and Jeremiah Dorsey led the team with 18 points apiece. Justin Hawkins had 15 points with Ashton Miller was fourth on the team with 13.
