Men's Basketball Secures Hard-Fought Win Over Georgian Court


PHILADELPHIA – The Thomas Jefferson University men's basketball team (15-11, 9-6 CACC) used a dominant second-half performance to overcome Georgian Court (6-20, 5-10 CACC) and claim a 62-55 victory in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action on Saturday evening at the Gallagher Center.

WHAT HAPPENED

  • Jefferson found itself trailing 25-22 at halftime after a slow offensive start. The Rams shot just 29.2% from the field in the first half, including 16.7% from beyond the arc.
  • Despite the struggles, Jefferson stayed in the game by converting 7-of-14 free throw attempts.
  • The second half saw a much-improved effort from the Rams, as they outscored Georgian Court 40-30.
  • Justin Hawkins led the charge with 16 of his game-high 22 points in the second half, including clutch free throws down the stretch.
  • Farouk Kaba contributed with three timely three-pointers, finishing with 15 points and six rebounds.
  • After falling behind 41-36 with just over 12 minutes to play, Jefferson went on a crucial 10-2 run, capped by a Sean Fullerton three-pointer that gave the Rams a 46-43 advantage.
  • With under a minute remaining, Hawkins and Troy McGregor sealed the game at the free-throw line, combining for six straight makes to put the game out of reach.
