Baseball Upended by No.16/RV Millersville
MILLERSVILLE, PA – Thomas Jefferson University baseball (4-4) went on the road to face No.16/RV Millersville University (6-1) on Tuesday afternoon action. After a 1-1 tie through four innings, the Marauders added seven runs in the bottom of the fifth to maintain their lead and eventually take a 13-3 win over the Rams.
WHAT HAPPENED
- Joshua Lopez sacrifice fly to left field gave Justin Egner time to make it to homeplate and lead early in the top of the first inning. The Marauders responded with a run in the second
- Jefferson had multiple instances of adding another run with a runner on third in the second and fifth inning, but Millersville kept the Rams off the board
- The Marauders would get seven runs in the fifth inning, capitalizing on four hits and two Jefferson errors to get an 8-1 lead
- Julio Frometa Gomez got a two-run single to left field to have it at 8-3 and cut the lead to five runs, but five runs added by Millersville and pitching that didn't allow Jefferson to get past second base ended the Rams day in a 13-3 defeat
- Kevin Baez started the game for Jefferson, pitching five innings with one strikeout and five hits. Only two of the eight runs during his time on the mound were earned. Kris Giangreco and Aiden Barbour pitched one inning while Abixael Sosa and Matthew Pashley split duties in the bottom of the eighth

Jefferson now gets prepared for home action as they have two doubleheaders this weekend at Alumni Field. The Rams will take on Franklin Pierce University in a rematch of the NCAA East Regional Tournament on Saturday and Sunday. The first game on both days begin at 12 p.m.
