No. 14/RV Baseball Splits with Felician
RUTHERFORD, N.J. – No.14 (NCBWA) and receiving votes (D2 Baseball) nationally-ranked Thomas Jefferson University baseball (24-10, 16-4) went against Felician University (18-15, 12-8) where the Rams split the games against the Golden Falcons. Jefferson fell in game one 6-1 but had a rebound in the second game, taking the 10-1 victory.
WHAT HAPPENED
GAME ONE: L, 6-1
- The Golden Falcons capitalized on a fielder's choice error that saw two Felician runners get to homeplate in the bottom of the first. A walk and a ground double play put two more runs, having Jefferson fall early 4-0
- A single to right field in the second and an error on the shortstop in the sixth put the Rams in a 6-0 hole that they were unable to climb out of. Joshua Lopez hit a single to center field for Jefferson's lone run in the eighth inning as they fell 6-1 in game one
- Tyler Sickles took the loss, pitching the first inning but getting taken out after giving up two hits and four runs, none of which were earned. Orion Frailey pitched six innings, striking out four batters while allowing seven hits and two runs. Joey Azzara pitched the final two innings and gave up just one hit

GAME TWO: W, 10-1
- Jefferson fell down early again as a pickoff attempt saw the Golden Falcons score in the bottom of the first inning
- Lopez hit a single to left center to tie the game at 1-1. Thomas Matuszewski double to the right line put two more runs in the same inning and Justin Espinal single to center field for an RBI that turned the game around for a Rams 4-1 lead
- Kevin Baez ground out to the pitcher to get a run in the fifth inning. Lopez nailed another run in the sixth inning off a single to right field. An error by the third basemen put a run to have it 7-1
- The seventh inning saw Jefferson add three more runs in the seventh as Jay Klieta had it on a fielder's choice, a Justin Egner single to center field, and a Javon Hernandez sacrifice flyout to left field turned it to a 10-1 victory
- Gabe Silva pitched a complete game, giving up four hits and one run while striking out 11 batters
