PHILADELPHIA – Thomas Jefferson University baseball (28-12, 20-6) produced 17 runs in game one of their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader against Post University (21-16, 17-7). The Rams fell in game two against the Eagles 14-2.
 
WHAT HAPPENED
GAME ONE: W, 17-3 (7 INNINGS)
  • Jefferson went on a spree in the first inning, scoring 11 runs to open the flood gates. Thomas Matuszewski, Kevin Baex, and Luis Beato Mora all had singles that produced at least one run for a 4-0 lead
  • A wild pitch turned it to a 5-0 attack. Justin Egner's single bunt up the middle had it 6-0 while a fielder's choice turned it to 7-0
  • Joshua Lopez single to left field, Javon Hernandez two-run triple, and a Matuszewski single to left field made it a 11-0 lead
  • Baez had a one-run bunt to the right side while Jay Kalieta's one-run single to right field made it a 13-0 lead
  • Post eventually got on the board from a fielder's choice, but another wild pitch had it at 14-1
  • Two runs for the Eagles had it at 14-3. Matuszewski two-run sacrifice flyout to center field and Beato Mora's one-run single ultimately finished the game at 17-3
  • Orion Frailey took the win, pitching 5.2 innings with four hits and three runs allowed while striking out five batters. Joey Azzara ended the day with 1.1 innings pitched

  • The Eagles turned it around in game two, getting an early 2-0 lead off one runs in the second and third inning.
  • Post capitalized on seven Jefferson errors, three of which came in the fourth inning that saw 10 runs scored by the Eagles. They would eventually be ahead of the Rams 14-0 heading to the bottom of the sixth inning
  • Beato Mora hit a two-run homerun in the sixth, but Jefferson ultimately fell 14-2
  • Gabe Silva took the loss, striking out five batters in three innings. Tyler Behm, AJ Lefton, and Steve Graziano all had one strikeout during their time on the mound
