Softball Splits Tight Doubleheader Against Holy Family
PHILADELPHIA, PA – Thomas Jefferson University softball team (7-19, 6-4) faced a close contest on April 2. Jefferson fell to Holy Family (14-16, 7-5) in the first game 6-5 after 11 innings. The softball team staged an impressive comeback, scoring five runs in the fifth inning to secure a 7-3 victory over Holy Family in the second game.
GAME ONE: L, 5-6
- Jefferson struck first in the third inning when Claudia Alldred scored on a groundout by L. Hutt to give the Rams a 1-0 lead.
- The Tigers responded in the fourth, capitalizing on an error and a three-run home run to take a 3-1 lead.
- The Rams battled back in the seventh. After Remy Smith led off with a double, Jefferson loaded the bases, setting up Caitlyn Senkow's sacrifice fly to bring home Remy Smith. A fielder's choice RBI by Claudia Alldred tied the game at 3-3.
- Both teams traded runs in the ninth and tenth innings. Jefferson momentarily regained the lead in the tenth when Annie Eliason scored on a fielding error, but Holy Family quickly answered with an RBI single, sending the game into the 11th inning tied 5-5.
- In the bottom of the 11th, Holy Family loaded the bases before a walk-off single sealed the Rams' fate.

GAME TWO: W, 7-3
- After a slow start, Jefferson found themselves trailing 3-0 heading into the fourth inning. Annie Eliason sparked the offense with a two-run double, cutting the deficit to just one.
- The momentum carried into the fifth, where Jefferson capitalized on Holy Family's defensive miscues. Bridget Shuler reached first on an error and later scored, followed by key hits from Remy Smith, Alleigh Waskie, and Tori Lipka.
- Annie Eliason delivered again with a two-run double, putting Jefferson ahead 7-3.
- Holy Family threatened, but Jefferson's defense locked in, retiring the last nine batters in order to seal the win.
