Baseball Takes First Doubleheader in Top-25 Matchup
PHILADELPHIA – In a back-and-forth clash between two CACC powerhouses and Top-25 teams, the No.17 nationally-ranked Thomas Jefferson University Rams (22-8, 12-2 CACC) walked off Alumni Field with a thrilling 14-3 victory from an explosive offensive performance in the first game, and a 10–9 victory over No.25 nationally-ranked Goldey-Beacom College (22-8, 12-2 CACC) thanks to a wild pitch in the bottom of the eighth, completing a dramatic late-game comeback.
WHAT HAPPENED
GAME ONE: W, 14-3
- After falling behind 2–0 in the top of the first because of a solo homer and an RBI single by Goldey-Beacom, Jefferson answered with authority in the bottom half.
- The Rams sent 10 batters to the plate, racking up six runs on five hits, highlighted by Luis Beato Mora's three-run blast to left — his first homer of the season — giving Jefferson a 5–2 lead.
- Jefferson continued to pour it on in the third, putting up another six-run inning. Justin Egner drove in two with a single, and Thomas Matuszewski capped off the inning with a two-run knock to push the lead to 12–3.
- On the mound, Danny Kerr (6–1) delivered a complete-game gem, allowing just five hits and three earned runs across seven innings. The right-hander struck out three and walked only one, efficiently shutting down a solid Goldey-Beacom lineup.

- In the bottom of the 1st, Jefferson wasted no time putting pressure on. After Joshua Lopez singled, Javon Hernandez ripped an RBI double to left-center to put Jefferson on the board. Then, a well-placed bunt by Justin Espinal brought in another run, giving the Rams a 2–0 lead out the gate.
- Goldey-Beacom responded quickly in the top of the 2nd. A double and a wild pitch brought in one run, A solo homer to left evened the score at 2–2.
- In the bottom of the 2nd, Javon Hernandez launched a three-run homer, cashing in on a hit-by-pitch and a strikeout-turned baserunner due to a wild pitch. The shot over the left field wall gave Jefferson a 5–2 lead.
- After a quiet 5th and 6th, Goldey-Beacom erupted in the top of the 7th. The score flipped 6-5 with a two-run homer, which was followed by walks, wild pitches, and an error by the catcher to put Goldey-Beacom in the lead 9–5.
- Down four in the bottom of the 7th, the Rams loaded the bases on two walks and a single. Then, Luis Beato Mora delivered the game's most electric moment — a grand slam to left field, tying the game 9–9 and sending the Jefferson dugout into a frenzy.
- After Aiden Barbour held Goldey-Beacom scoreless in the top of the 8th, Jefferson went to work. A walk and bunt single loaded the bases, Gabe Silva scored the winning run on a wild pitch, capping off a wild 10–9 comeback.
