No.17 Baseball Gets Offense Going as They Win NCAA Regional Game Over Goldey-Beacom
CENTER VALLEY, PA – No.17/18 (NCBWA/ACBA) Thomas Jefferson University baseball (39-15) was down 4-3 in the fifth inning to Goldey-Beacom College (34-21) in the NCAA East Regional second game. The Rams went on to put up seven in the bottom of the fifth inning and 14 in their final four innings at bat as Jefferson defeated the Lightning 17-4 to stay in the NCAA Tournament bracket.
WHAT HAPPENED

The Rams took that momentum away from the Lightning in only half an inning as seven runs were registered in the bottom of the fifth. Thomas Matuszewski single to the shortstop evened it out at 4-4. A fielding error gave Jefferson the lead with the bases loaded. A walk with Kalieta at bat had it at 6-4, setting up Jay Salsbery to knock the ball out of the park for his first career homerun that was a grand slam, changing the close contest to a 10-4 dominant lead

Gabe Silva got a runner to homeplate in the seventh with a sacrifice flyout to center field to have it at 11-4. Jefferson put up six more runs off a Joshua Lopez single to the left side, a Luis Beato Mora three-run homerun to left center, with this being his first game back to the starting lineup, and a Silva two-run single to center field to end the scoring and day for the Rams with a 17-4 victory

Danny Kerr gets the win as he pitched eight innings, giving up 10 hits, four earned runs, and a walk while striking out five batters. AJ Lefton ended the final inning not allowing a hit or base runner

The matchup will be a best-of-three between the Rams and Ravens, with the first game starting tomorrow on Friday, May 15 at 11 a.m. Franklin Pierce earned this spot of the tournament as they defeated Goldey-Beacom 4-1 in the first matchup of this tournament.
