Baseball Takes First Game of Elimination Bracket Against Felician
WILMINGTON, DE. – Thomas Jefferson University baseball (38-13) continue their quest for the conference title as they opened the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament Elimination Bracket against Felician University (36-17), where the Rams had at least one run in seven of eight innings to defeat the Golden Falcons 10-3 in Thursday afternoon action.
WHAT HAPPENED
- After both teams kept it scoreless in the first inning, Jefferson got the first run on the day as Justin Espinal grounded out gave Joshua Lopez the opportunity to make it to Homeplate for a 1-0 early lead. After another scoreless inning by the Golden Falcons, Gabe Silva hit a one-run single to the left side and added another run on the board in the third
- Jordan Tiburcio blasted a solo homerun in the fourth while a wild pitch gave Justin Egner time to make it to Homeplate and have it at 4-0. Felician got on the board in the sixth as a sacrifice flyout had them trail 4-1. Silva responded in the bottom of the inning as Silva's hit to right center made it 5-1
- Julio Frometa Gomez added two more in the seventh as a single to the right side turned it 7-1. The Rams held the Golden Falcons to another scoreless inning in the eighth and made them pay with three runs with Silva single with a throwing error, Javon Hernandez single to the right side, and a wild pitch ended the scoring for Jefferson at 10-1
- Felician had triple and a sacrifice flyout to put two runs on the board in the ninth, but Jefferson secured their trip to the winner's bracket of the CACC Championship Tournament with a 10-3 win
- Danny Kerr takes the win as he pitched seven innings, allowing eight hits and a run that was not earned while striking out seven batters. AJ Lefton came in for the final two innings as he had three hits and two runs during his time on the mound with a strikeout to close out the game for the Rams

Jefferson will now head to the next day of the CACC Tournament as they play in the winner's bracket. The Rams will face the winner of the Dominican (N.Y.) and Wilmington (Del.) game on Friday, May 9 at 11 a.m.
