Women's Volleyball Falls in Doubleheader to Edinboro


PHILADELPHIA – Thomas Jefferson University women's volleyball (2-3) held a doubleheader on Saturday inside the Gallagher Center against Edinboro University (3-3). The Rams ended up losing 3-0 in both contests to the Fighting Scots. 

WHAT HAPPENED 
GAME ONE: L, 3-0 

  • First set saw both teams going back and forth, tying the score around 17-17 before Edinboro took eight of the final 10 points to win 25-19 

  • The Fighting Scots got out early in the second, getting their lead as high as five points. Jefferson fought back as close as one point multiple times, but were downed 25-20 

  • Third set saw the Rams once again trail as much as 14-7. Jefferson closed it to three points but were unable to force a fourth set as Edinboro took set three 25-18 and the first game on the day

GAME TWO: L, 3-0 

  • First second in the second set went in favor of Edinboro with the first eight points and continued as Jefferson dropped 25-11 

  • The Rams got out early in the second set 5-1. Jefferson weren't able to keep hold of the Fighting Scots as they were outscored 24-10 through the rest of the set 

  • The Rams kept it competitive early in the third, pushing ahead with a 11-8 lead. Edinboro got five straight points to retake the lead, eventually holding on to a 25-18 victory as Jefferson fell in three sets to the Fighting Scots for the second time
