Henry's Seals Winner to Secure First Place in CACC Regular Season

Jefferson rallied with two second half goals to upend Bridgeport at home

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (Oct. 22, 2026) – Senior Sophia Henry (Deptford, N.J. / Deptford Township) scored with 3:24 remaining to complete a second-half comeback and lift the Thomas Jefferson University women's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over the University of Bridgeport at Ravenhill Field on Thursday afternoon.

The Bridgeport clash was originally scheduled for last month during Homecoming weekend but would ultimately be moved as a result of a Nor'Easter that shook the local area. The Rams responded to a one-goal halftime deficit with six second-half shots, five on target after shooting into the sun during the first half of Thursday's game. Senior Dillan Sorino (Pennsauken, N.J. / Camden Catholic) supplied the equalizer in the 64th minute, converting an assist from freshman Tessa Hughes (Warrington, Pa. / Central Bucks South) during a scrum in front of the Purple Knights' net.

Jefferson maintained its pursuit of the winner, with Hughes putting another attempt on frame shortly afterward. Henry ultimately delivered in the 87th minute, giving the Rams their first lead and the deciding goal. The senior outpaced the Purple Knights' backs and ultimately finessed the ball into the back of the visitor's net.

Freshman goalkeeper Ava Brochon (Bensalem, Pa. / The Pennington School) collected four saves, including two during a scoreless second half, to support the comeback and overcome a first-half setback. Henry led Jefferson with three shots, while freshman Jalina Gonzalez (Fleetwood, Pa. / Fleetwood) placed both of her attempts, quality attempts, nonetheless on target. The Rams finished with six of their seven shots on goal and a 3-1 edge in corner kicks.

Head Coach Michelle Jacquette and the Rams will finish their recent homestand against Monroe University on Saturday, Oct. 24 in the annual Senior Day game. Kickoff at Ravenhill Field is scheduled for noon.
