Men's Basketball Drops 50 Points in Second Half; Wins Third Straight CACC Contest
PHILADELPHIA – Holding onto a six point lead at the break, Thomas Jefferson University men's basketball (12-9, 8-6) scored 50 second half points on their way to a 81-58 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) win over Georgian Court University (7-14, 4-9) in Tuesday evening action.
WHAT HAPPENED
- Jefferson jumped out to a 10-5 lead just five minutes into the contest with Georgian Court battling back and trading the lead with the Rams
- A 10-4 run at the end of the first half helped Jefferson hold onto a 31-25 lead at the break
- The Rams came out looking to make a statement in the second half as they produced five turnovers in three minutes and scored eight points during that timeframe
- The Rams started to get most of their scoring in the inside as they had 30 of their 52 points in the paint coming in the second half as well as 19 points on the fast break
- Jefferson made their lead as high as 28 points as they went to win 81-52
- Shane Cercone shined for Jefferson as he put up a career-high 24 points off the bench, going 10-of-12 on the floor. Jahmare Memphis went to score 11 points for Jefferson. Moustapha Sanoh, Isaiah Thomas-McClain, and Matt McCool had eight points apiece, with Sanoh going a perfect 4-of-4 on the floor. Chris Cervino continued doing damage in the final minutes of the contest with nine points as he was 3-3 from beyond the arc
- Cam Edmonds led the Lions with 19 points on the night. His performance helped him etch his name in Georgian Court history as the school's all-time leader in scoring with 1,413 points
