Thrilling Quadruple Overtime Ends in Heartbreak for Women's Basketball

WATERBURY, Conn. – Thomas Jefferson University women's basketball (15-8, 9-6) went back and forth with Post University (8-11, 6-8) as both squads refused to let the game end in regulation. The contest continued to four overtimes where the Rams were unable to hold the lead as they fell 104-99 to the Eagles in Saturday afternoon Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) competition.

WHAT HAPPENED
  • After a low scoring first quarter which saw Jefferson lead 10-6, the Rams put on a 27 point performance in the second quarter. Four Rams scored five or more points while shooting 64.7% on the floor to be up by 17 at the break
  • The Eagles fought back and outscored Jefferson 43-26 to get out ahead of the game. Emily Spratt, who had a career-high 33 points on the day, nailed a three pointer with 13 seconds left to force overtime
  • The five minutes in each game went in similar fashion: back and forth play that had a shot under 15 seconds to tie it up and force another overtime. The third OT saw the Rams up by six with 1:12 to go. Post answered the call and tied it up on a three by Megan Landsiedel with five seconds to make it a fourth OT contest
  • A three point play by Claire Greene and a Jasmine Day-Cox shot from beyond the arc eventually made it a six point lead for the Eagles. Ana Pellecchia and Spratt each had a three in the fourth overtime but were unable to help Jefferson get the lead back as they fell to Post 104-99
  • This is the first time Jefferson went into overtime since December 1, 2024 against West Chester and their first multi-overtime game since December 9, 2023 when they went into three overtimes against Bloomsburg. The Rams fell in both matches
  • Two Rams had career-high scoring games as Spratt had 33 while Pellecchia scored 23. Gabby Recinto was second on the team with 24 points, one shy of tying her career-high. Recinto had a double double as she registered 16 rebounds. Carolyn Sipprell joined her with 15 points and 10 rebounds on the evening
  • Landsiedel put up 21 points for Post while Day-Cox produced 20 off the bench. Five total Eagles scored in double digits
