Baseball Gets 12 Runs in Seventh Innings; Splits CACC Opener to Goldey-Beacom
HOCKESSIN, DE. – Thomas Jefferson University baseball (2-7, 1-1) had their first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader of the season as they took on Goldey-Beacom College (8-9, 1-1) in Wednesday afternoon action. The Rams went to score 12 runs in the seventh inning to take game one 16-2 while dropping game two to the Lightning 5-3.
WHAT HAPPENED
GAME ONE: W, 16-2 (7 INNINGS)
- The game was scoreless for the first two innings before Luis Beato Mora hit a solo homerun in the top of the third inning to make it a 1-0 game for Jefferson
- The rams added a run in the fourth as Andrew Holub hit a fielder's choice, giving Aleksei Goldhill time to make it to homeplate and have it 2-0. Kyle Kozlowski made it a 4-0 game in the sixth as he hit a two-run homerun. Goldey-Beacom responded in the sixth as Joey Current hit a single to left field, getting the runner home and cutting the Rams lead to 4-1
- Jefferson went to score 12 runs in the top of the seventh inning, forcing the Lightning to go through four pitchers on the mound in that inning alone. Three straight walks with the bases loaded lead to a 7-1 advantage. A fielder's choice with a throwing error got another run in. A hit by pitch, two singles, three walks, and a sacrifice flyout turned the game to a 16-2 lead for the Rams
- Goldey-Beacom took a run for Jefferson in the bottom of the inning but were unable to overcome the deficit as the Rams won game one 16-2
- Tyler Behm pitched six innings for the win, allowing five hits and one run while retiring seven batters. Cole Roschel pitched the final inning as he gave up two hits and a run with one strikeout under his belt

- Game two started off similar to the ending of game one as Kozlowski got hit by pitch with the bases loaded, giving Jefferson a score at the top of the first
- Goldey-Beacom responded with a homerun in the same inning to tie the contest up
- After two scoreless innings, the Lightning took the lead off a single to left center. They tacked on two more runs in the fifth with a sacrifice flyout and a two-run single through the left side
- Jefferson closed the gap in the seventh as Vincent Favata hit a two-run homerun to make it 5-3. They got a runner to third base with the tying run at the plate, but Goldey-Beacom retired the Rams batter with a flyout to defeat Jefferson 5-3 in game two
- Kevin Baez pitched four innings for the Rams, giving up six hits with five runs as he struck out six batters as well
- Aiden Barbour came in relief for the final two innings, only giving up two hits and no runs for the rest of the game
