Three Rams Take Home CACC Weekly Awards


NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Thomas Jefferson University saw three athletes secure Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) weekly awards for competition that ran through March 9-15. Liv Stevens took home Player of the Week and Ella Wheeler secured Rookie of the Week honors for softball while Iris Gluck took home Defensive Player of the Week recognition. 

LIV STEVENS – PLAYER OF THE WEEK 
Stevens earns her first weekly award of her career and helps gives the Rams one of their two weekly awards this season. She went 8-for-11 at-bat, earning a .727 batting average with 3 home runs, 2 doubles, 1 triple, 6 RBI's, and 6 runs scored in a 3-1 week. Stevens began by going 2-for-3 with 2 RBI's and 2 homeruns in a 7-5 win against Virginia Union. She followed it up by going 2-for-3 again, this time having a double, a run, and an RBI in the Rams 7-0 victory over the Panthers. Stevens began the series against Lock Haven with a 3-for-3 count at the plate, having 2 runs, 2 RBI's, a triple, and a homerun in the 8-4 defeat. She responded in game two by being 1-for-3 at the plate with a sacrifice flyout RBI and a double in a 13-2 victory over the Bald Eagles. 

ELLA WHEELER – ROOKIE OF THE WEEK 
Wheeler secures her first weekly award on the year and adds the second award winner on the year for softball. She went 4-of-9 at-bat on the week, holding a .444 batting average with 4 runs, 9 RBI's, and three homeruns on the week to help the Rams go 2-1 in her appearances. Wheeler began by being walked in a 7-0 victory over Virginia Union. She then went 1-for-2 with a run and hit-by-pitch in the 8-4 defeat to Lock Haven. Wheeler concluded her week by going 3-for-4 with 9 RBI's and three homeruns, including a grand slam, that propelled the Rams in a 13-2 win against the Bald Eagles. She also stopped a potential run in the second with a throw to homeplate for an out. 

IRIS GLUCK – DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK 
Gluck takes her first weekly award of the season, her second career weekly recognition, while giving the team their first on the year. She had 8 ground balls, 7 draw controls, 4 caused turnovers, 3 goals, and 4 assists in a 2-0 week for Jefferson. Gluck began with 2 goals, 2 assists, 2 draw controls, a caused turnover, and a ground ball in the Rams 12-4 victory against Southern New Hampshire. She followed it up by having 7 ground balls, 4 draw controls, 3 caused turnovers, 2 assists, and a goal in Jefferson's 17-8 win over Franklin Pierce.
