Baseball Completes Sweep of Post
WATERBURY, Conn. – Thomas Jefferson University baseball (10-11, 9-5) headed on the road to complete their series against Post University (13-17, 7-7) on Sunday. The Rams won both games 12-8 and 12-7.
WHAT HAPPENED
GAME ONE: W, 12-8
- Jefferson struck first with a score from a throwing error by the pitcher in the first. Andrew Holub and Vincent Favata had hits that led to scores, Holub a single to the right field and Favata a sacrifice flyout to right field, as it was 3-0
- After the Eagles scored, the Rams tacked on three runs in the fourth from an error by the second baseman that had it at 6-1. They continued their scoring in the sixth with another Favata sacrifice flyout and the seventh from a grounded out RBI by Jordan Tiburcio
- Post went to make a comeback, scoring two runs in the seventh and three in the eighth to be down 8-6. Jefferson had another three run inning by way of a Colin Wilson double, Alekesi Goldhill single, and a throwing error by the pitcher that made it 12-6
- The Eagles had two runs in the ninth but Jefferson held strong to a 12-8 win
- Saiben Rivera got the win, pitching seven innings with eight strikeouts. Alex Miller and Kris Giangreco came in relief in the eighth while Jake Baumann finished it out in the final inning

- Post got out to an early lead with a four run inning at the bottom of the first. Jefferson tied it up in the second with a Julio Frometa Gomez, Goldhill, and Justin Egner having one RBI singles with a throwing error by the catcher allowing a runner to score
- Frometa Gomez gave the Rams the lead on a RBI double to the left line while a Capers two RBI single had it at 7-5
- They added onto the lead in the fifth and sixth with Capers two RBI double and Holub RBI single having the game at 10-4 in the fifth. Frometa Gomez single down the left line and Tiburcio sacrifice flyout in the sixth had it at 12-4
- The Eagles got three runs in the sixth but Jefferson once more held onto a 12-7 win in game two
- Kevin Baez gets the win, pitching 5.0 innings with three strikeouts on the day. Chase Ceppo and Trey Eckman came onto the mound in relief
