Wilson's Grand Slam Lifts Baseball over Chestnut Hill
PHILADELPHIA – Down by three runs in the bottom of the eighth, sophomore
Colin Wilson hit a grand slam to give Thomas Jefferson University baseball (11-11, 10-5) a 12-11 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) win against Chestnut Hill College (11-12, 8-7) on Tuesday.
WHAT HAPPENED
- The Rams had 11 of their 12 runs scored on homeruns during the game, with the lone one being a triple that had a throwing error, resulting in a score
- After being down 2-0 from the top of the inning, Tripp Cappers hit a three-run homerun to go up 3-2. Andrew Holub knocked a solo-homerun right after for a 4-2 lead
- Chestnut Hill got a run in the second, but Justin Egner and Holub had solo homeruns in the same inning to get their lead up to three scores
- The Griffins tied it up at 6-6 before Luis Beato Mora knocked a triple to center field. A throw fell right to the dirt, allowing him to make homeplate and to have Jefferson regain the lead
- Chestnut Hill used a three run sixth inning to go up 9-7. Egner had his second homerun to cut it by one. The Griffins held strong and went ahead 11-8 after the top of the eighth
- After a single to shortstop, a walk, and a hit by pitch to load the bases, Wilson hit his grand slam to left field and gave Jefferson the lead
- Aiden Barbour closed the contest out with three straight strikeouts for the save. Cole Roschel takes the win on the day
