Softball Competes in Weekend Matches Against Lincoln (Pa.) and Bloomsburg
NORRISTOWN, PA – Thomas Jefferson University softball (3-3) competed at Francesco A. Mascaro Park in two doubleheaders this past weekend. The Rams took on Lincoln University (Pa.) (5-8) on Saturday and Bloomsburg University (6-2) on Sunday. Jefferson split with the Lions while falling in both contests to the Huskies.
WHAT HAPPENED – LINCOLN
GAME ONE: L, 12-11 (8 INNINGS)
- Jefferson went down early as Lincoln scored eight runs in the first three innings to go up 8-1. Caitlyn Senkow got the Rams on the board with a RBI single in the first
- Jefferson responded with a run in the third to be down six scores. They used six runs in the fourth to tie the game up at 8-8
- The game went to extra innings that ultimately saw the Rams fall to Lincoln 12-11
- Delaney Alix pitched 1.1 innings to start the game. MaryKate Armstrong completed the next 6.2 innings in the loss

- Both teams added a score in the first as the Lions had a grounded out RBI while Negron nailed a homerun to tie the contest up
- Jefferson earned two more runs from a Abby Simmers fielder's choice while a Negron grounded out made it 3-1. Amariah McKnight grounded out double play allowed Hutt to make the plate in the third and turn the game to a 4-1 advantage for the Rams
- The Lions responded by adding two runs in the fourth while putting up another two in the seventh inning to go up 5-4
- Lanasa secured Jefferson's lone victory as she nailed a triple to bring two runners home and get the victory
- Lauren Bernaiche pitched 6.2 innings, allowing eight runs and five runs with two strikeouts. Bailey Maloney comes to get the final out at the top of the seventh to get the victory

GAME ONE: L, 5-1
- First three innings went scoreless before the Huskies tacked on two runs in the top of the fourth off two singles to the outfield. Bloomsburg put up two more in the top of the sixth
- Lanasa hit a single up the middle that Hutt to homeplate for the Rams to score and make it 4-1
- Bloomsburg put up one more in the top of the seventh as Jefferson were unable to even the game out and fall 5-1
- Alix takes the loss, pitching 5.2 IP with seven hits and four runs. Liv Stevens appeared for 1.1 innings, getting a strikeout with two hits and a run given up

- Shuler's single to the right field got the Rams on the board, but two more runs from the Huskies concluded the game in five innings
- Maloney took the loss with 1.2 innings pitched, giving up four hits and four runs with two being earned. Bernaiche pitched 2.1 innings with five hits and three earned runs. Armstrong concluded the last inning with two hits and runs given up
