#27 Women's Tennis Falls in First Spring Contest to Palm Beach Atlantic
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Thomas Jefferson University women's tennis (13-2) came into the spring season looking to continue their momentum from the fall as they took on Palm Beach Atlantic University (2-7) on Sunday. The Rams were upset by the Sailfish 4-3.
WHAT HAPPENED
- Jefferson took the third doubles position spot 6-0 and were ahead, but Palm Beach Atlantic won the second and first position doubles to earn the first point on the day
- The Rams, who were recently ranked #27 in the nation by the International Tennis Association (ITA), got back in the lead as Rose Huang and Marely Alvarado won in the fifth and sixth spots. Virginia Borja took the second spot for the 'Fish to even it at 2-2
- After trading points in the third and fourth spot, with Marta Vázquez earning the fourth spot win, the first position decided the contest. Palm Beach Atlantic ultimately won that position and earned the 4-3 upset over the Rams
