PHILADELPHIA – Thomas Jefferson University softball (13-15, 3-5) hosted the University of Bridgeport (21-15, 6-2) in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action on Saturday. The Rams fell in both contests to the Purple Knights.
 
WHAT HAPPENED
GAME ONE: L, 3-2 (8 INNINGS)
  • The game was tied for three innings before a fielder's choice RBI gave the Rams the lead. Rozalee Negron went to make it 2-0 in the fifth off a RBI single up the middle
  • Bridgeport climbed back with a run in the sixth and seventh inning to send the game to extras. The Purple Knights got a score in the top of the eighth. Jefferson had runners on first and second but couldn't make the comeback as they fell in game one 3-2
  • Delaney Alix and Vise Zarate both pitched all eight innings for their teams

  • Bridgeport got out to an early 2-0 lead in the first off two solo homeruns. The Purple Knights added three more runs in the second to have it at 5-0
  • Jefferson got on the board from a grounded out RBI by Mackenzie Ward in the third. The Rams trailed by two off a two-run homerun from Alyssa Bailey
  • Bridgeport went to score six runs, including a grand slam, in the fifth that ultimately ended in the game early
  • Lauren Bernaiche and Bailey Maloney were on the mound for the Rams
