Rams Win Defensive Struggle for First '26 Win

A second-half SNHU own goal made the difference for the visiting Rams

HOOKSET, N.H. (Sept. 6, 2026) – The Jefferson Rams women's soccer team entered the win column for the first time in 2026 on Sunday, prevailing in a defensive battle on the road at Southern New Hampshire University.

While the scoreboard would indicate a war of attrition, both teams went the extra mile to challenge the opposing goalkeepers, but conversely, both teams received excellent play from their respective netminders. Rookie keeper Ava Brochon (Bensalem, Pa. / The Pennington School) drew the start for Jefferson, denying seven Minutemen chances en route to earning the clean sheet.

With the match still scoreless in the 56th minute, Jefferson sent a ball into the box that a Southern New Hampshire defender attempted to head clear. Instead, the clearance found the back of the net for an own goal, giving the Rams the only score of the contest. Thanks to the play of Brochon and the experienced defensive group in front of her, that was all the Rams would need to pull out a big win up in New England.

Head Coach Michelle Jaquette and the Rams hope to take another step towards regaining their national ranking when they Mercy University next weekend in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y.
