The Philadelphia University softball team fell in both games of
a doubleheader in Northeast Philadelphia today, dropping decisions
of 9-1 and 10-2 to Central Atlantic Collegiate
Conference (CACC) foe Holy Family University.
The Lady Rams led game one 1-0 heading into the bottom of
the fourth, when the Tigers scored three times to take the
lead. Holy Family then ended the game with a six-run bottom
of the fifth inning.
In game two, once again Philadelphia University held a 1-0 lead
going into the bottom of the fourth. The Tigers tied it 1-1,
but the Lady Rams scored another run in the top of the sixth for a
2-1 lead. But the advantage proved short-lived as Holy
Family exploded for nine runs in the bottom of the sixth to bring
an early end to the nightcap as well.
On the day, first baseman Kelly Rauco (Nutley,
N.J./Nutley; pictured below left) provided nearly all the Lady
Rams' offense. The sophomore went 1-for-2 with a bunt single
and the lone run scored in the opener; and 2-for-2 with a
run-scoring double and a solo home run in the second contest.
Also pictured in action from today's game are senior
pitcher/catcher Jacque Curtis (Punxsutawney,
Pa./Punxsutawney; above) and freshman center fielder
Jen Richard (Millstone Township, N.J./Allentown;

The losses drop the Lady Rams to 8-20 overall and 4-10 in the
CACC. Their next outing is a conference doubleheader at home
vs. Goldey-Beacom College on Wednesday, April 16 at 3:00 p.m.
**Please note that the previously scheduled doubleheader at
Millersville University on Tuesday, April 15 at 4:00 p.m. has been
cancelled and the games with the Marauders will not be made up in
the 2008 season.**
