Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia University
women's soccer team (0-4) was held scoreless in a 4-0 loss to the
C.W. Post University Pioneers (3-0) in a non-conference game on
Sunday afternoon. Senior goalie Sara Hall
(Newark, DE/ Charter School of Wilmington) had 13 saves for the
Lady Rams.
Phila U. opened up the match firing, as senior midfielder
Stephanie Filmyer (Harleysville, PA/ Souderton)
took a hard shot at the 37:00 mark from 20 yards out that went just
wide for the Lady Rams.
Phila U. missed another opportunity with just seven minutes left
in the first period as the Pioneer goalie came out of goal but the
Lady Rams could not convert as a C. W. field player blocked a
shot. At halftime the match was 0-0.
Junior defender Alyssa Kline (Southampton, NJ/
Holy Cross) came up big to start the second period making a
defensive save on a close shot by the Pioneers. The Pioneers
then went on a 4-0 run in the final 25 minutes scoring their first
goal on an open net by Ivana Babic, who scored again five minutes
later.
The Pioneers added two more to walk away with the 4-0 win.
The Lady Rams will host Felician University on Saturday,
September 13th at 12:00 p.m.
