Long Island, NY- The Philadelphia University
softball team (12-13, 4-6 CACC) split in a non-conference
doubleheader at #1 east region C.W. Post University (16-10) on
Sunday afternoon. The Lady Rams clinched game one in a 1-0
victory and fell 8-0 in the second game of the day. Freshman
Danielle Parisi (Teaneck, NJ/
W.Windsor-Plainsboro) brought in the winning run in the first
game.
In game one, the Lady Rams were locked in a stalemate with C.W.
Post through six scoreless innings, until Parisi knocked an RBI
single to score freshman pinch-runner Ali Glaser
(Easton, PA/ Notre Dame of Green Pond) in the top of the
seventh. Frosh hurler Ali Schmidt (Cordova,
MD/ Easton) got three consecutive outs to finalize the win,
striking out nine in the game.
The second game was a different story, as C.W. Post exploded for
14 hits to PhilaU's 4 and put eight runs on the board, holding the
Lady Rams scoreless in an 8-0 loss (six innings). Junior
pitcher Kelly Rauco (Nutley, NJ/ Nutley) got the
loss in 2.2 innings pitched, allowing four runs and striking out
one.
The Lady Rams return to action on Tuesday (4/7) at the
University of the Sciences for a CACC doubleheader at 3:00
p.m.
