Men's Tennis Puts up Fight in 9-0 Loss to Queens

Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia University men's tennis team (0-1, 0-0 CACC) opened their non-traditional season with a 9-0 loss to regional power Queens College  (1-0, 0-0 ECC) on Friday afternoon at the Abraham J. Salaman'58 Courts. 

Although the Rams did not pick up any overall match points, #1 singles junior Manoli Sgouros took QC's Attila Toth to a second-set tiebreaker, falling 6-1, 7-6 (9).  Also putting up a solid effort was senior #5 singles Tom McAvoy, who took QC's Robby Scheuing to the brink, eventually dropping the 6-3, 6-4, 10-1 contest.

The Rams compete at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Regionals this weekend, beginning on Saturday morning and finishing on Monday.  Stay posted to www.philaurams.com for all the action.
