PHILADELPHIA -- The Philadelphia University women's tennis team won its final Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match by knocking off visiting Caldwell, 7-2, on the Abraham Salaman Tennis Courts Friday afternoon.
Philadelphia is 10-6 overall and concludes its conference schedule at 4-4. Caldwell goes to 1-7 overall and 0-6 in the CACC.
The Lady Rams took two points in doubles play. The No. 1 tandem of Isabella Espinosa and Kaylee Fennern was an 8-0 winner over Briana Gaspich and Emily Slater. Olivia Amato and Sylvia Bennicelli knocked off Alyssa Brillante and Danielle Levassuer in the No. 3 match, 8-2.
Elizabeth Verbits kicked off singles play with a 6-0, 6-1 over Levassuer in the No. 6 match. Espinosa picked up a 6-1, 6-4 victory against Slater in the No. 1 flight. Fennern clinched the match by winning at No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-3 over Gwynne Alden. Amato claimed the final point with a 6-1, 7-5 in the No. 4 match versus Gaspich.
Philadelphia concludes its fall season with a non-conference match against the University of the Sciences on Tuesday, Oct. 16 at 3:30 p.m.
