Box Score PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia University women's soccer team closed out the 2012 regular season with a 2-0 loss to fourth-ranked LIU Post Saturday afternoon on Ravenhill Field.
The Lady Rams end the season with an overall record of 11-7-0. Philadelphia is the second seed for the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) championship tournament and host Chestnut Hill Sunday, Oct. 28 at noon on Ravenhill Field.
Prior to the match, the team honored its eight seniors—Kelli Kowalewski, Lauren Pfister, Chelsea Riedell, Trisha Sileo, Jessica Stec, Melissa Copeland, Maura Kasierski, and Denna Allen—for their hard work over the past four years which included two CACC regular season titles.
After a scoreless first half, LIU Post (15-1-2) opened the scoring on a set piece in the 54th minute. Susanne Vistnes headed home a free kick taken by Karina Rizzo, who was 35 yards away from the goal.
Alexa Niciforo netted the Pioneers' second goal with a blast from 25 yards old that tucked itself inside the far post in the 73rd minute.
Philadelphia keeper Courtney Shaw made six saves in the loss. The Pioneers' Nicole Fierro recorded four saves. Both team attempted 10 shots.
