Lady Rams swept by Post University in CACC opener

WATERBURY, Conn. – The Philadelphia University softball team opened Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play with a pair of losses to Post University Sunday afternoon on Le Moy Field. Game one's score was 13-1 in five innings and the second game was 11-4.

In the first game, Philadelphia (2-9, 0-2 CACC) committed six errors, five coming in an 11-run fourth inning for Post (3-11, 2-0 CACC).
 

Second baseman Meghan Lewis got the Lady Rams on the board in the fifth inning with a RBI single to plate catcher Kacie DeMaio.

Left fielder Emma Haley and Lewis each had two hits in the first game for Philadelphia.
 

The Eagles had 11 hits, two each coming from left fielder Lianna May, designed player Stephanie DeMartino and first baseman Casside Erb. DeMartino drove in five runs.

Johanna Rice was the winning pitcher after striking out four hitters in five innings. Nicole Troisi took the loss. She allowed seven runs, four earned, on seven hits in three innings.
 

In game two Philadelphia took a 4-3 lead in the top of the fourth inning thanks to a three-run homer by pitcher Samantha Abromavage.

Post came back with two runs in the fourth on RBI base hits by catcher Amy Mantha and May. The Eagles tacked on six more runs in the sixth inning.
 

Center fielder Stephanie Martin scored the Lady Rams' first run on an error in the third inning.

Abromavage had a strong game at the plate by going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBIs. Haley was 2-for-3. Shortstop Christina Udris led the Post 14-hit attack with three hits and two runs scored.
 

Ashley Cummings took the win. She scattered eight hits and struck out four. In the circle, Abromavage was the losing pitcher. She allowed 11 runs, six earned, on 14 hits.

Philadelphia takes on Millersville for its home opener on Tuesday, March 20 at 2:30 p.m.
