Box Score PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Philadelphia University men's tennis team ended the regular season with a 9-0 victory over visiting Post in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match Saturday afternoon.
The Rams (9-11, 4-2 CACC) earned the third-seed in the CACC Tournament and will face second-seed Chestnut Hill in a semifinal round match Saturday, April 21 at Concordia (N.Y.).
Prior to the regular season finale, the department of athletics along with head coach Lance Lee and assistant coach Shawn Becker honored the team's four seniors: Adrian Torroella-Cruz, Manoli Sgouros, Ryan Christopher and Eric Guerrero.
During singles play all four seniors, Kyle Burke and Nail Rachidi won their respective matches in straight sets. Christopher (No. 4) and Rachidi (No. 6) were 6-1, 6-0 winners. Burke took the No. 3 flight 6-2, 6-0, while Guerrero was victorious in the No. 5 match 6-0, 6-2. In the No. 2 match Sgouros came away with a 6-2, 6-1 win. Torroella-Cruz was a 6-3, 6-2 winner in the No. 1 flight.
Burke and Christopher earned the first point of the day by claiming the No. 2 doubles match 8-2. Sgourous and Torroella-Cruz teamed up for an 8-3 win in the No. 1 match, while the duo of Rachidi and Guerrero was an 8-4 winner in the No. 3 flight.
