PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia University women's tennis team suffered an 8-1 setback to visiting Chestnut Hill in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opener for both school Thursday afternoon on the Abraham Salaman '58 Tennis Courts.
Elizabeth Verbits and Kaylee Fennern teamed up and earned the lone point for the Lady Rams (2-1, 0-1 CACC) by defeating Maria Parapouras and Morgan Oeschsle, 8-5, in the No. 2 doubles match.
Magill Kurts nearly got a second point for the team as she pushed Axe Owens to her limit in the No. 6 singles match, but fell 4-6, 5-7.
Philadelphia heads to Delaware to take on Goldey-Beacom in a CACC match on Sunday, Sept. 9 at 1 p.m.
