Box Score WATERBURY, Conn. – The Philadelphia University men's tennis team picked up its second straight victory as it defeated Post, 8-1, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match Saturday afternoon.
Philadelphia evens its overall record at 10-10, while improving its CACC record to 4-2. Post is now 5-12 overall, 2-3 in the conference.
Kyle Burke (Wakefield, R.I./South Kingston) won a pair of matches on Saturday to move his career win count to 96. In doubles action, Burke teamed up with Chris Casamassima (Franklin Square, N.Y./St. Mary's) to come away victorious in the No. 1 match, 8-6 over Peter Fanous and David Narovec. Burke picked up his second win by taking out Nicholas Tadros in No. 1 singles action, 6-4, 6-3.
In the other doubles matches, Ayman Barakat (Kharkiv, Ukraine/Kharkiv Specialized English School #3) and Nail Rachidi (Meknes, Morocco/Emile Anouar) won the No 2 match 8-6 and the No. 3 tandem of Matt Germani (Blackwood, N.J./Highland Reg.) and Long Vo (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton Area) was an 8-3 winner.
Barakat took the No. 2 singles match, 6-2, 6-1, against Fanous. In No. 4 singles action, Casamassima defeated Jonathyn Young, 6-2, 6-4. Vo won the No. 5 match against Mateus Garcia, 6-2, 6-4. Josh Greenburg (Miami, Fla./Miami Country Day) dropped the first set of the No. 6 match 4-6, but rebounded to take out Danny Bonamassa 6-3, 1-0 (10-4).
The Rams travel to Kutztown for a non-conference match on Monday, April 15 at 3 p.m.
