Women's soccer falls to LIU Post, 2-0

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The Philadelphia University women's soccer team was defeated by host LIU Post, 2-0, in a non-conference match that took place Wednesday afternoon on Robert Blitz Field.

The Pioneers (4-2-0) took on 1-0 lead when Susanne Vistnes was went on a breakaway by a long pass from Karina Rizzo and found the back of the net at the 36:48 mark. Just about three minutes later, Julia Backman doubled the gap when she used her head to put home a corner kick taken by Lauren Bellone.

Philadelphia (0-4-0) put a pair of shots on goal in the second half, but was turned aside both times by Katelynn Phillips.

Sophomore keeper Courtney Shaw (Langhorne, Pa./Villa Joseph Marie) made four saves for the Rams, who were outshot 10-6.

Philadelphia welcomes West Chester to Ravenhill Field for a non-conference match on Saturday, Sept. 28 at noon.
