Men's tennis ends season with 5-4 victory at Bloomfield

BLOOMFIELD, N.J. – The Philadelphia University men's tennis ended its 2014 season with a 5-4 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory over Bloomfield Saturday afternoon at Brookdale Park

The Rams wrap up their season with a 6-13 overall record and a 1-5 mark in conference play.

Philadelphia won both of the contested doubles matches by an identical 8-1 score.

Chris Casamassima (Franklin Square, N.Y./St. Mary's) and Long Vo (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton Area) defeated Thulani Hove and Ceran Massam in the No. 1 match. At No. 2, Matt Germani (Blackwood, N.J./Highland) and Juan Velosa (Bogota, Colombia/Gimnasio Campestre San Rafael) took out Adam Carter and Arthur Clapot.

The Rams forfeited the No. 3 doubles match.

Germani picked up the Rams' first singles point with a 6-1, 6-0 triumph against Peter Beckford in the No. 5 match. Velosa was a 6-2, 6-1 winner over Carter at No. 4 for Philadelphia's fourth point.

Vo clinched the season-ending victory by knocking off Shimarhi Shuler 6-1, 6-2 in the No. 3 flight. The win was Vo's team-leading eighth singles win.
