Men's tennis opens spring season with 6-1 loss to Temple

PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia University men's tennis team opened the spring portion of its schedule with a 6-1 loss to Division I Temple University Friday afternoon in the Legacy Youth Tennis and Education Center.

Philadelphia is now 2-5 this season, while Temple, who opened its spring on Jan. 22, evens its record at 3-3.

Celso de Vera Rehberger (Oviedo, Spain/Santa Maria del Naranco) picked up the point for the Rams as he defeated Nicolas Paulus at No. 2 singles 7-5, 3-6, 7-6 (8-6). De Vera Rehberger rallied from 4-1 in the third-set tiebreak to record his team-leading fifth win the season, the second in the No. 2 flight.

Philadelphia now has two weeks off before its next match on Fri., Feb 27 against West Chester in the Legacy Youth Tennis and Education Center at noon.
