NEWTOWN, Pa. – Emma Haley (Jensen Beach, Fla./Jensen Beach) recorded five of the Philadelphia University softball team's 11 hits as the Rams were defeated by Holy Family in two one-run games in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader Friday afternoon at Helen Randle Park. The Tigers took game one 3-2 and walked off with a 5-4 game two victory.

GAME ONE
Philadelphia (17-21, 10-10 CACC) took advantage of two Holy Family (14-9, 14-8 CACC) miscues to grab a fast 2-0 first inning lead.

Haley opened the contest with a bunt single back to pitcher Bailey Walters. Walters, in an attempt to retire Haley, threw the ball away allowing Haley to get to second. After Stephanie Martin (Hanover, Md./Seton Keough) drew a walk, Samantha Abromavage (Lake Hopatcong, N.J./Jefferson Twp.) reached on a Kristine Casey error, that also brought Haley home for the game's first run. In the next at bat, Gianna Bliss (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenxville Area) hit a ground out to second, scoring Martin for third to double the lead to 2-0.

In the circle, Abromavage breezed through the first three innings of the game, sitting down all nine batters she faced in order. Then in the fourth, Brianna Scotto got to Abromavage with a lead off homer to left to cut the Philadelphia lead in half, 2-1.

After a scoreless fifth, Holy Family scored twice on a two-out single by Alexis Daubert to take a 3-2 lead.

Walters settled down after the first, allowed just one runner to reach third the rest of the game—a two-out triple by Haley in the seventh, to earn the win.

Haley had two of Philadelphia's five hits.

GAME TWO
Trailing 4-3 going into the bottom of the seventh, the Tigers scored twice to steal the win. With one out in the inning, Madison McCleary hit a solo home run to straight away center to tie the score at four. Taylor Favinger won the game three batters later with a single to right.

The Rams took opened the scoring in the fourth on a Mollie Burrell (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton Area) ground out to plate Haley, who singled to start the game.

Holy Family answered back in the fifth with three runs, one on a Scotto double and two on a Jenna Vasquez single, to move in front 3-1.

Philadelphia didn't trail long as it would score three time one half inning later to reclaim a one-run advantage. After a pair of walks to start the frame, Erin Maher (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) roped a single to center to close the Tiger lead to 3-2. Haley put the Rams back in the lead with a two-out triple to right center field to plate Megan Letos (Bristow, Va./Stonewall Jackson) and Maher.

Walters earned the game two victory, allowing five hits over seven innings.
