Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – The Philadelphia University softball team returns to the Northeast for a non-conference doubleheader at Molloy on Friday afternoon. Molloy took the twinbill by scores of 5-1 and 4-0.

GAME ONE
The Rams (2-10) got off to the solid start in the first inning, scoring a run to take an early 1-0 lead. Renee Kakareka (Schaumburg, Ill./Schaumburg) started the game with the first of her two hits. After a pair of strikeouts, Gianna Bliss (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville Area) was able to make the leadoff single pay off with a double to left field to plate Kakareka.

Molloy (9-9) came back with a five-run bottom half of the inning, including a two-run single by Milan Botte and a two-RBI double off the bat of Erin Clinton, to take a 5-1 lead.

Over the final six innings, Philadelphia managed to get runners in scoring position in the third and fourth innings.

In the third, the Rams put their first two runners on base with a Kakareka walk and a Naomi Stas (Tuckerton, N.J./Pinelands Reg.) base hit to center field. After a popped up sacrifice bunt attempt, led to the first out, Kakareka was thrown out attempting to steal third. The inning ended with a ground out.

Philadelphia put runners on base with a lead-off Mollie Burrell (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton Area) single and a one-out hit by Monica Levins (Norristown, Pa./Norristown Area). Nicole Troisi (Norristown, Pa./Pope John Paul II) moved the runners up to second and third with a ground out to the pitcher. Like the third, the inning ended with a ground out.

The Rams were outhit by the Lions, 9-7.

Chelsea Hawks fanned five in six innings, while allowing the one run on seven hits, to take the win. Troisi went four innings and struck out two in a losing effort.

GAME TWO
Philadelphia managed three hits, singles from Stephanie Pepper (Toms River, N.J./Central Reg.), Courtney Wensel (Bechtelsville, Pa./Berks Catholic), and Levins—in the nightcap off of Molloy's Jenna Turato.

The Lions took a 1-0 lead on a first-inning wild pitch. Two innings later, Ashley Fedor hit a solo home run to double the Molloy advantage. Alexandra Russo had a RBI single and Kaitlyn Snyder drew a bases loaded walk in the sixth inning.

Turato struck out three hitters in the complete-game victory. Pepper posted six innings over the first four innings for the Rams.

Philadelphia opens its home and Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference schedule against Felician on Saturday, March 19 at noon.
