Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

PHILADELPHIA – A two-out rally in game two propelled the Philadelphia University softball team to a 3-1 victory over Felician and a split of its first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader of the season Saturday afternoon. The Golden Falcons recorded a 3-0 win in the opener.

GAME TWO
In the bottom of the second inning, Philadelphia (3-11, 1-1 CACC) put runners on first and second with a fielder's choice and Renee Kakareka (Schaumburg, Ill./Schaumburg) getting hit by an Erin Powers pitch with two outs.

Erica D'Angelo (Broomall, Pa./Archbishop Carroll) delivered in the clutch as she roped a single to left field that scored Shannon Weaver (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson), who reached on the fielder's choice, from second base to knot the score at one. After a wild pitch put Kakareka on third and D'Angelo at second, Stephanie Pepper (Toms River, N.J./Central Reg.) beat out an infield single to shortstop and Zeaenna Brackett threw the ball into the stands to score both runners and both the Rams up 3-1.

Relief pitcher Nicole Troisi (Norristown, Pa./Pope John Paul II) came into the game for Pepper in the fourth and got herself out of jams in the fifth and sixth to keep Felician (10-12, 1-1 CACC) scoreless the rest of the way.

Felician managed to get runners on second and third with just one out in the fifth. Troisi bounced back to strike out Jackie Duenas and get Amanda Lopez to ground to third to keep the score at 3-1. An inning later, with Golden Falcons at first and second, Troisi got out of trouble with one pitch, inducing a 5-3 double play and end the rally.

Troisi ended up scattering five hits and striking out two over the final four innings to record the win. Pepper went the first three, fanning three, and led the Philadelphia seven-hit attack with two hits.

Powers allowed three runs, two earned, on six hits in two innings and took the loss.

Jeanette Roldan and Brackett had two hits each for Felician. Lopez put the Golden Falcons up 1-0 with a one-out double in the first.

GAME ONE
Both teams managed just three hits, but Felician was able to push three runs across in the fifth inning.

Duenas broke the scoreless deadlock with a one-out double down the left field line to plate Alicia DeFlaviis, who started the inning reaching on an error. Two hitters later, Racquel Manzo connected for a two-run home run to increase the visitors' advantage to 3-0.

The Rams attempted to put together rallies in the fifth and sixth innings, getting runners on first and second in both frames, but couldn't push a run across.

Owens earned the complete-game victory while striking out four in the process.

Philadelphia starter pitcher Naomi Stas (Tuckerton, N.J./Pinelands Reg.) had two of the Rams' three hits and tossed four innings of one-hit softball, including four strikeouts. Kakareka took the loss.
