NEWARK, Del. – The Thomas Jefferson University volleyball team (13-2, 4-2 CACC) dropped a 3-1 decision at Wilmington (Del.) in a CACC match on Tuesday night.
GAMEPLAY
The Rams led 2-1 early in the opening set. The Wildcats notched three straight points to take a 4-2 lead then did not trail for the rest of the frame. Wilmington had a slim two-point advantage at 16-14 before pulling away with a 6-1 run on the way to a 25-18 victory.
In the second, the two teams were even at three before Jefferson took over with a 5-1 rally. The Wildcats closed the gap to two (10-8) when the Rams got hot again, scoring six of the next seven for a 16-9 cushion. Jefferson went on to take the set 25-16.
Wilmington dominated the third, recording the first nine points on the way to a 25-16 win. The Rams tallied the first point of the fourth but the Wildcats responded with five in a row to go ahead. They did not trail again, eventually claiming a 25-16 victory to clinch the match.
