Sekagya Nets First Career Goal as Men's Soccer Ties Shippensburg

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - The Thomas Jefferson University men's soccer team (2-4-2) played to a 1-1 draw at Shippensburg in non-conference action on Wednesday evening.
 
GAMEPLAY
It was a fast-paced and physical contest with the two teams combining for 38 shots and 11 cards. The Raiders had the early chances with three corner kicks in the first four minutes. The Rams put their first four shots high and the game remained scoreless over the opening 30 minutes. Shippensburg then broke through in the 31st, blasting a cross into the bottom right corner, for a 1-0 lead.
 
Over the final few minutes of the first period, Jefferson had two shots blocked before the Rams managed a goal of their own. Geoffrey Little had the ball on the left side. His centering pass was blocked by a defender but went right to Imran Sekagya, who beat the keeper to the bottom right corner for his first collegiate goal and a 1-1 score.
 
In the second, the Rams maintained their pressure to close the first half, registering three shots and a corner in the initial seven minutes, but it remained a 1-1 game. Overall, Jefferson peppered the Raiders' defense with nine shots during the frame, four of them on target, but the game headed to overtime. The Rams put two more shots on goal during the extra sessions but the Shippensburg goalie stood tall again, forcing the contest to a tie.
