Volleyball Avenges Early-Season Loss With Defeat of Wilmington (Del.)

PHILADELPHIA - The Thomas Jefferson University volleyball team (20-4, 11-4 CACC) earned a season series split against Wilmington (Del.) with a 3-0 victory over the visiting Wildcats on Tuesday evening.
 
GAMEPLAY
Wilmington jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the opening set but the Rams came back to even the score at 10. With Jefferson up one (13-12), the Wildcats surged ahead with four straight points. The Rams tied it at 16 before Wilmington took the lead again with three points in a row. The Wildcats looked to be in control at 20-17 but Jefferson rallied for eight of the final nine points to win the set 25-21.
 
In the second, the Rams held a 6-5 advantage but Wilmington reeled off four consecutive to go in front 9-6. After Jefferson evened the score at nine, the Wildcats got hot again, posting a 6-0 run for a 15-9 lead. Wilmington maintained a four-point cushion (20-16) but the Rams stunned the visitors with 11 of the next 16 to take the frame 27-25.
 
The Wildcats got out to a 5-3 advantage in the third set. Jefferson responded with an 11-1 stretch to go ahead 14-6. The Rams cruised the rest of the way to a 25-15 triumph to claim the match.

CACC PLAYOFF PICTURE
With three matches remaining in the regular season, Jefferson is currently tied for third place in the South Division. With a playoff spot secured, the Rams are still battling for a top-two seed and a quarterfinal home match. Jefferson sits a game back of Wilmington in the loss column for the second position with the Wildcats holding a match in hand.
