PHILADELPHIA – The Thomas Jefferson University men's soccer team could not climb out of a 2-0 deficit and fell to Concordia (N.Y.), 3-2, in CACC action on Wednesday afternoon. The Rams are 0-2 on the season.
GAMEPLAY
The Clippers did not take long to get on the board, jumping out to a 1-0 lead in the eighth minute. Concordia capitalized on a rebound off of a blocked shot. Just seven minutes later, the Clippers increased the advantage to two, catching the Rams off guard for a 3-on-1 run in transition and converting.
Despite trailing on the scoreboard, Jefferson had a 5-4 edge in shots in the first half and broke through in the 21
st minute. The Rams executed a beautiful passing play with
Nick Brown sending a through ball up to
Tanner Hanks, who tapped it over to a streaking
Mohamed Jawara in the box for the finish.
In the second period, the Clippers outshot Jefferson, 6-3, and had a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks. They found themselves with another odd-man run in the 74
th minute and hit the back of the net to make it 3-1. The Rams kept up the effort and got within a goal again in the 85
th minute as
Gabe Paz deflected a shot by
Tyler Sarnoski into the cage. Jefferson could not find the equalizer before time expired.
