Late Goals Thwart Men's Soccer Versus Holy Family In Regular Season Finale

PHILADELPHIA – Holy Family scored a pair of goals less than two minutes apart late in the second half and the Thomas Jefferson University men's soccer team (7-6-4, 6-2-4 CACC) fell to the visiting Tigers (11-6-1, 9-2-1 CACC), 2-1, in the regular season finale on Wednesday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The first 10 minutes of the contest was all Rams as they recorded four shots and found the back of the net. Matty Harmon dribbled into the left corner and got off a cross to the right post. Noah Stover got a head on it, but the HFU goalkeeper came up with the save. However, the goalie knocked it right back towards Stover and his second header attempt got through for a 1-0 lead in the ninth minute.

Holy Family picked up its play over the remainder of the first half and ended up with an 8-6 advantage in shots for the period. However, Jefferson remained in front entering the second half. The Tigers led in shots again during the frame and finally broke through in the 75th minute when an attacker got behind the defense and knocked in a service to even the score at one.

Less than two minutes later, Holy Family was in the attacking end again and centered a ball from the left side. The cross was headed in near the right post and the Tigers had a 2-1 lead with 13:54 to play. The Rams managed two shots over the remaining time but both were stopped by the goalkeeper.
