NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Thomas Jefferson University's Nikki Dedes was selected the CACC Women's Soccer Rookie of the Year and was one of six All-CACC honorees for the Rams, the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference announced on Monday.
Dedes is the third CACC Rookie of the Year in program history, the first since teammate
Laural Erick won the award in 2019. Dedes was also named to the All-CACC First Team alongside
Devin Sullivan and
Payton Cole. Kiery Spatz, Jeena Pressley, and Erick were members of the All-CACC Second Team.
Dedes potted 13 goals this season to lead the Rams and rank second in the conference. She added three assists and her 29 overall points were third in the CACC. Dedes scored on 34.2% of her shot attempts, which was the best in the circuit this year of players with at least 20 shots. The rookie had four multi-goal games and netted two game-winners.
The 2021 CACC Player of the Year, Sullivan earned First Team All-CACC accolades for the second straight year. She registered 10 points on four goals and two assists and provided a steady presence all season long in the midfield. Sullivan scored the game-winner in a key regional victory versus Molloy.
Cole picked up her third career All-CACC First Team honor and second in a row. She led a Jefferson defense that allowed just 7.9 shots per game. The Rams' 1.18 goals against average was fourth in the conference and they totaled five shutouts during the campaign.
Spatz garnered her first All-CACC selection after totaling four goals during the regular season. She scored the game-winner at Post with a penalty kick.
Pressley started 16 of the Rams' 17 contests on the backline and was a key contributor to Jefferson's strong defensive effort. She also tallied 18 shots, placing half on target and scored a goal versus first-place Bridgeport.
Erick has been chosen All-CACC all four years of her career. This season, she was second on the squad with 14 points on four goals and six assists. Erick's six helpers led the Rams and tied for fifth in the conference. She netted two game-winning goals.
Jefferson went 11-5-1 during the regular season and earned the second seed in the CACC Tournament.
